Music producer and composer, Prasad Sashte, has been closely connected to music since childhood. He began his music career from ‘Devdas’ as an assistant programmer with Monty Sharma.
Metrolife had a chat with Prasad about his musical journey and his other interests.
.
How did your music career start?
.
Music has been a part of my life from the time I remember. Growing up in a musical family had its impacts on me. I was very young when my father got me a Casio. The constant encouragement at home kept me going. I started off with small shows back in hometown. My music career took off when I started working under Monty Sharma. Since then,
there has been no looking back.
.
Who is your inspiration?
.
I learnt a lot when I was working with Monty Sharma. The guy knows western classical music the best. Every project is an inspiration.
.
Who is your favourite singer?
.
Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar are my all time favourites. Of recent times, I like Papon, KK, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shreya Ghoshal among many others. All of them have their own style of singing, and that is what I like the most.
.
Do you like travelling? Which is your favourite tourist spots?
.
I like travelling. But I do not have the luxury of ‘free time’; I end up working even on weekends. In fact, whenever I complete a project, I go on a 3-4 day trip with my family to relax. Manali and Munnar are my favourites. You can literally drive through the clouds in Munnar; that’s the best thing about that place.
.
Tell us about your upcoming projects.
.
I have a lot of things lined up at present. I’m doing the background score of ‘Namaste England’, which is set to release this October. My recent projects include ‘Paltan’ and ‘Mulk’.
.
Are you a foodie?
.
Yes! I love eating. Hailing from Maharashtra, I love all the festive delicacies. Bengali food is my favourite. I like crabs, but I’m mostly a fish person.
.
Your relationship with Bengaluru...
.
Bengaluru is a beautiful city with kind people. I often visit Bengaluru as many of my relatives live in the city. But I’m here for work most of the times. I recently came down with my family to Bengaluru, and we went on a drive to Coorg. Coorg is another place I would like to visit again.
.
Do you read books? What genres do you prefer reading?
.
I’m not much into English novels. Maharashtrian literature is rich, and this is true of any language. I usually prefer the horror genre.
.
Who is your favourite actor? Do you prefer movies over books?
.
Shah Rukh Khan is my favourite. I like him because everybody likes him (laughs). I prefer both books and films, but films help me visualise the book.
