Passengers report late-night chaos at Kempegowda airport Uber facility

Bengaluru: Passengers slammed mismanagement at the Kempegowda International Airport's Uber facility late Tuesday, saying they waited over an hour despite booking Uber Sedan rides at Terminal-2.

One international passenger booked an Uber Sedan at 11 pm and waited over an hour, but the cab never arrived. Uber staff told him Sedan and UberGo were unavailable, instructing him to book Premium or Comfort rides instead.

Over 30 passengers, including women travelling alone, waited up to 90 minutes. An elderly couple headed to Goraguntepalya was also stranded.

Passengers also alleged irregularities at the pick-up point. A cab driver, who parked elsewhere, allegedly asked a woman to step outside the designated area to board.

In another case, a sedan driver allegedly refused waiting passengers, claiming the ride was booked two days earlier.

Calling it "a scam, not a service", passengers demanded immediate action against Uber, citing severe late-night inconvenience.

Govt steps in 

Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy said he has brought the issue to the notice of the chief secretary, who would take action against the service providers.

Statement from Uber 

An Uber spokesperson said, "We remain committed to a reliable airport experience in Bengaluru. Trip completion rates are strong, with average waits usually under five minutes. During late-night surges, UberGo wait times may increase briefly, but other categories offer minimal waits at competitive prices. Our airport team monitors demand in real time and suggests alternatives for a seamless experience.”
