<p>The event was the last segment of the regional finals which were already held in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata. The competition had 28 finalists, out of which seven will proceed to the grand finale in Mumbai. <br /><br />The judges for the event were hairstylist Kanta Motwani; Nandita Bhalla, Editor, Cosmopolitan magazine; photographer Anushka Menon; designers Shantanu and Nikhil Mehra and make-up artiste Elton Fernandez. <br /><br />One of the participants, Sonal Amol Panchal, who has been a hairdresser for seven years, had come down from Chennai.<br /><br /> “I wanted my model to showcase the idea of a normal girl in the glamour world and so I chose a dancer and not a professional model. Her skin tone, personality, likes and dislikes all contributed to the look I created for her. I concentrated more on the colours red and burgundy for her look,” she said.<br /><br />Red and burgundy were the most common shades while bobs and asymmetrical cuts dominated the haircuts. Retro and celebrity looks were the current trend chosen by the hairdressers.<br /><br />Another participant, Mohamed Sabir, from Hyderabad said, “I chose the look ‘thundering contrast’, a contrast of blonde on black for my model which complemented his skin colour and personality.”<br /><br /> There were three categories — ‘New Generation’, ‘Men’s Image’ and ‘Colour Trophy’ which had the hairdressers walk the ramp with their models. This was followed by a special performance ‘India in Paris’ by the L’Oreal Dream Team. <br /><br />The performance had various models walk the ramp and dance and the L’Oreal hairdressers also styled their hair. Models Deepti Gujral and Raman Lamba performed while Pratichee Mohapatra sang. <br /><br />The judges chose seven winners from the three categories. The two winners from the ‘New Generation’ category were Stacy Ragui from JCB and Bandari Sai Krishna from Manea Salon. Mohammed Sabir from Envi Salon and Sikandar Lalani from Bubbles Hair & Beauty won the second category, which is ‘Men’s Image’. <br /><br />The last category, ‘Colour Trophy’, had three winners — Kamini Pally from Manea Salon (winner), Pramila Depcha from ‘Page 3’ (first runner-up) and Uma Maheshwari from Toni & Guy (second runner-up). The winners will now compete with the other zonal finalists at the grand finale which will be held in Mumbai in October.</p>
