Rowdy-sheeter hacked to death near Harohalli KSRTC depot

Bengaluru: A 31-year-old rowdy-sheeter was brutally hacked to death by unidentified assailants near the Harohalli KSRTC depot in Ramanagara district, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Santosh, alias Karadi Santhu, a resident of Siddapura near Harohalli. The incident unfolded around 11 am on Saturday. Police suspect an old rivalry behind the murder.

Santosh had gone to Harohalli town to finish his chores and was returning home when the assailants attacked him. The suspects, believed to be a gang of four, followed Santosh in a car and crashed into him from behind. Santosh’s bike skidded, and he was thrown off, according to the police.

An investigator in the case said that all the assailants stormed out of the car with billhook machetes and attacked Santosh. The deadly attack killed him on the spot, and he was left in a pool of blood on the road. The assailants fled the scene soon after.

Police have registered a murder case and launched an investigation. CCTV footage from the vicinity is being reviewed to identify the car and the assailants. Police strongly believe that the gang might be from south Bengaluru, where Santosh was a rowdy-sheeter.

Santosh was recently released from jail. He had left Konanakunte, where he had been residing, and moved to Siddapura to start a new life. However, the attack appears to have been carried out to settle past scores, according to the police.
