RWAs organise e-khata melas to assist property owners

Bengaluru: Three Residents’ Welfare Associations (RWAs) organised e-khata melas in the Mahadevapura, Yelahanka, and West zones on Saturday, responding to the BBMP’s call for citizen groups to facilitate the process for property owners with limited computer knowledge.

These melas aimed to help residents apply for e-khata without having to visit BBMP offices or BangaloreOne centres.

At Mantri Web City in Horamavu (Mahadevapura Zone), over 550 property owners participated. A total of 313 final e-khatas were distributed, and 63 corrections were made on the spot in the presence of senior BBMP officials.

At Prestige West Woods in Binnypet (West Zone), officials helped residents download 45 draft e-khatas, issued five final e-khatas, and conducted a training session on the application process.

A similar initiative at the Singapura bus stand (Yelahanka Zone) saw 394 property owners obtain draft e-khatas, while 300 applicants received final e-khatas.

Gaps in awareness

So far, 10.34 lake property owners in Bengaluru have downloaded draft e-khatas. However, officials noted that this suggests nearly half of the city's property owners either lack awareness about the BBMP’s e-khata initiative or are unable to locate their property documents.

Of those who have accessed the draft copies, 1.46 lakh have successfully obtained their final e-khatas.
