<p>Bengaluru: A 29-year-old HR executive remains in coma after a tree branch fell on his head while he was riding his scooter on 16th Main Road near the Brahma Chaitanya Temple in Hanumanthnagar on Sunday.</p>.<p>Akshay Shivaram — who sustained severe injuries to the brain and skull — is currently on ventilator support at a private hospital in Jayanagar.</p>.<p>“We are providing the best possible treatment. He is on life support, and his condition remains critical,” said a doctor treating Akshay.</p>.<p>A CT scan revealed that the top portion of Akshay’s skull had multiple fractures. At the time of the accident, he was not wearing a helmet.</p>.<p>Akshay was initially rushed to a nearby private hospital and later transferred to a multi-specialty facility, where he underwent emergency surgery. He is currently being monitored in the intensive care unit.</p>.<p>His cousin, Teju, who has been coordinating with doctors at the hospital, blamed the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) for negligence.</p>.<p>"The local temple management had made at least three complaints, requesting the BBMP to remove the dead tree branches. Had they acted in time, this tragedy could have been avoided,” he said. “The branch outside this hospital was trimmed only after Akshay’s accident."</p>.<p>An MBA graduate from Bangalore University, Akshay is the second son of Shivaram, a dialysis patient. On the day of the incident, Akshay was returning home after buying meat from a nearby market.</p>.<p>“The doctors have said there is only a 10 per cent chance of recovery. He has suffered 12 injuries to the head,” Teju added.</p>.<p>On Tuesday, BBMP officials met with the family and assured them that the civic body would cover medical expenses. However, Akshay's family remained worried as the BBMP is generally known for not honouring its promises.</p>
