<p>Bengaluru: The Ashok Nagar police have arrested seven people in connection with the murder of rowdy-sheeter Hyder Ali, officials said on Thursday.<br><br>The prime accused, Nayaz Pasha, also has a rowdy sheet at the Ashok Nagar police station and has been involved in eight previous offences.</p>.<p>"Preliminary investigations suggest a longstanding rivalry between Nayaz and Ali as the motive behind the crime,” a senior police officer told DH.<br><br>Ali was brutally murdered around 1.15 am on February 23 near the Bangalore Football Stadium while returning home to Anepalya on his friend’s motorcycle after attending a party at a bar on Residency Road.<br><br>As they neared the stadium, about 250 meters from Garuda Mall, the attackers emerged from a waiting car. Simultaneously, another group, who had been tailing Ali from the bar, closed in on motorcycles. The assailants confronted Ali, while his friend, who was riding the motorcycle, was struck on the head, sustaining minor injuries before being forced away.</p>.1.5k history sheets closed in 2 yrs, but Bengaluru still has active 6k rowdies.<p>Ali was then attacked with machetes and other sharp weapons, suffering multiple wounds to his front and back. Left bleeding on the road, he was later declared dead at Bowring Hospital.<br><br>Police records show Ali had a history sheet opened against him at the Ashok Nagar police station in 2014, with 11 cases, including attempted murder, assault, and drug-related offences.<br><br>“Special teams were formed under the Ashok Nagar police inspector. Using CCTV footage analysis and local intelligence, the suspects were identified and arrested,” an officer said.</p>
