<p> A teacher from the state and another from Uttar Pradesh were presented the 2015 Prizes for Outstanding Science Teachers here recently.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The prizes were instituted by Prof CNR Rao Education Foundation at the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) campus. <br /><br />Purandaranarayana Bhat is a science and mathematics teacher at Vidyabodhini High School, Dakshina Kannada. He has been a teacher for 30 years and has received several awards such as the State Best Teacher Award (2015) and the A Shama Rao Memorial Award (2011) to name a few. He has also served as a resource person and conducted programs in science and mathematics for students as well as teachers. He has also participated in several science seminars where his paper presentations have won accolades at the state and national levels, said a release from the JNCASR.<br /><br />Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, a chemistry teacher at Tagore Public School, Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, was recognized for his ‘Learning by doing’ approach to teaching his students. As a coordinator, he has organized several science communication activities such as science quizzes, debates, workshops and lectures in which he delivers popular lectures and demonstrates interesting low-cost experiments for students and teachers. He has also received the National Science Teacher Award from the National Academy of Sciences (2009), the Best Science Teacher Award from the Uttar Pradesh government (2011) and various environment-related awards.<br /><br /></p>
