Bengaluru: Teenager among two dead after falling into pond

Bengaluru: Two people, including a teenager, died after falling into a pond on the northern outskirts of Bengaluru, the police said. 

The deceased are Dhan Raj (14) and Prabhakar (28), both from Thammenahalli village in Bengaluru North taluk. 

According to the police, Raj got into the pond to recover a cricket ball that had fallen in. But he did not know how to swim. 

Prabhakar, who ran a tea stall nearby, saw Raj and jumped in to rescue him. But both drowned. 

The fire and emergency services and police personnel were alerted, and the two bodies were recovered. They were declared dead at the hospital. A case has been registered at the Madanayakanahalli police station.
