<p>The conference was attended by S M Nandish, the Managing Trustee of the organisation that hosts this event, as well as Usha Uthup, the famous singer, who has been associated with the Bengaluru Ganesh Utsava for several years.<br />The Utsava, which is being held at the APS College Grounds in Basavangudi, will begin on September 1 and end on September 11. <br /><br />It will feature a line-up of several prominent artistes, such as Ramesh Aravind, L Subramaniam, Sunidhi Chauhan, Mano Murthy, and of course, Usha Uthup. <br /><br />One of the chief highlights of the 11-day extravaganza is the Bollywood Nite, which will showcase performances by Shaan, Govinda and Kareena Kapoor. <br /><br />Bangaloreans can also look forward to the Kannada Nite, which includes, amongst other things, a comedy skit by Ramesh Aravind in which he enacts an interaction with Lord Ganesh. <br /><br />On the last day of the Utsava, 300 folk artistes from across the length and breadth of Karnataka will be coming to Bangalore to perform in front of the crowd.<br /><br />The Bengaluru Ganesh Utsava will also include Aromas of Karnataka, a food festival that features the different indigenous cuisines of Karnataka. “We plan on getting food from all over the state, which will be sold at the venue at a cheap price,” said S M Nandish. <br />The intent behind this feast is to familiarise people with the traditional cuisines of Karnataka.<br /><br />Interestingly, this edition of the Bengaluru Ganesh Utsava is going to be entirely plastic free. This is the first time that the organisers have undertaken such an initiative, and <br />S M Nandish admits that they are excited about it. <br /><br />“No plastic will be used at this festival, whether it’s during the puja or the food <br />utsava. We are trying to contribute to the society as a whole,” he said, adding that he hoped the entire programme would make Bangalore ‘the cultural destination’ in India. <br />Usha Uthup, who has been associated with the Bengaluru Ganesh Utsava for years now, said that she believed it to be an absolutely brilliant concept. <br /><br />“It’s an incredibly unifying platform, and an amazing force. So many different genres of music and art come together here,” she said, adding that she was also proud to be a part of the Utsava as it brought social causes, such as banning plastic, to the forefront. <br />Usha explained that she is particularly thrilled about performing at this festival as it brought her back to her Kannadiga roots.<br /><br /> “My grandfather was from Mysore, and it’s wonderful to come back here. I believe that Bangalore has a very discerning audience,” she said. <br /><br />Usha Uthup, who is known for transcending all boundaries in music, said that she hoped that this edition of the Utsava would find place for many new songs. <br /><br />She said, “If you can break the boundaries of language, when it comes to music, it’s going to be absolutely wonderful.”<br /></p>
