<p>The show began with a bharatanatyam recital, Tunta Ganesha, presented by the students of Kalasindhu Academy and choreographed by Poornima Gururaja.<br /><br />Students from the Academy performed with much ease and the piece was enjoyed by the crowd. This was followed by a power-packed concert by Salim and Suleiman Merchant, two popular music directors from Bollywood. <br /><br />The audience swelled up by the time Salim and Suleiman were ready to perform. Salim started out with a Ganesha prayer composed by Gururaj Singh.<br /><br />The moment he stepped on stage and picked up the mike, the audience cheered him with thunderous applause. <br /><br />Salim began his performance with Aye Khuda from the movie Paathshaala followed by the song Aashayein from Iqbal. Salim’s golden voice enchanted the crowd which was supported and enhanced by his band’s brilliant drum beats and guitar.<br /><br />The other songs for the night were Kurbaan Hua from the movie Kurbaan which had Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan. However the audience kept on requesting for Ainvayin Ainvayin from Band Baaja Baraat. Many in the audience were seen dancing for most of the songs and enjoyed every piece that was performed including the upbeat Punjabi numbers. <br /><br />Everyone at the event were mesmerised by the track Yeh Hosla from the movie Dor. “This is our first performance in Bangalore and we loved every bit of it. The Bangalore crowd is amazing and full of life. Though we performed for hours, we didn’t feel exhausted because of their constant cheering and waving,” said Salim. Along with enjoying the show, the crowd also savoured flavours of Karnataka offered at the venue. <br /><br />The dishes of Coastal Karnataka, Old Mysore region, Hyderabad Karnataka, malenadu and bayaluseeme were catered to the food lovers. The Bengaluru Ganesh Utsava is on till September 11 at APS Grounds, Basavanagudi. <br /></p>
