<p>A 20-year-old woman committed suicide by hanging at her boyfriend’s residence in Kodigehalli on Saturday. Her friend attempted suicide by consuming poison after hearing about her death, but was saved by his relatives.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The deceased Sunanda, a resident of Sadaramangala, was studying in a private college located near her house, while her boyfriend Saidrev, 26, had completed his degree and was looking for a job. Saidrev, who was residing with his sister in Kodigehalli, took Sunanda to his house to celebrate his birthday. After cutting the cake, Saidrev along with his friends started consuming liquor. <br /><br />Sunanda got furious, snatched the bottle and threw it away. Saidrev, who felt humiliated in front of his friends, slapped and verbally abused her. He left the house with his friends, while Sunanda, who was alone at home hung herself from the ceiling. Saidrev’s sister, who had gone to pick her children from school, came back home and found Sunanda hanging, said the police.<br /><br />Beau consumes pesticide<br /><br />She informed Saidrev and her husband, who rushed to the house. On finding her dead, Saidrev consumed pesticide. But his friends and family members shifted him to a private hospital, where his condition is said to be stable. The Kadugodi police visited the spot and shifted the woman’s body for post-mortem, the police said.<br /><br />Sunanda’s parents told the police that she had called them and narrated about the incident, before committing suicide. A couple of years ago, Saidrev and Sunanda had met in a church and got into a relationship. Their marriage was being arranged. <br /><br />Based on a complaint filed by Sunanda’s brother, a case of abetment to suicide has been registered against Saidrev.<br /><br /></p>
