US-based doctor loses Rs 1 crore-worth jewellery at Bengaluru wedding

Bengaluru: A doctor based in the United States allegedly lost gold jewellery worth Rs 1 crore at a wedding hall in Bengaluru last week, police said.

The incident occurred on April 22 between 7.30 pm and 11.30 pm at SDP Palace on Old Madras Road in Bidarahalli.

The victim Dr Siruvella Sridevi arrived in the city on April 18 to attend her nephew's wedding. According to reports, she brought around 725 grams of jewellery worth Rs 1 crore and stayed with her brother in Ganganagar.

In her complaint, Dr Siruvella alleged that after wearing a few ornaments, they were kept inside a locked room at the wedding hall. When she returned later she found the valuables missing.

The doctor also told police that when she was getting ready, she had seen a domestic worker of the wedding hall entering the room. The Avalahalli police have registered a case and launched a probe.
