<p>Bidar: The police officials have cracked the murder case of Gram Panchayat member and real estate businessman at the Chikkapete-Aliabad ring road on the outskirts of the City within seven hours of the crime and arrested four persons in connection with the murder in the Shahapur forest area here. </p><p>While two accused hail from Navadgeri village, two others are residents of Honnikeri village in the taluk. Umesh and John from Navadgeri are the accused. </p><p>The main accused who hatched the conspiracy to murder is absconding. A case has been registered under Sections 103(1), 61(2)(a), 3(5) of the IPC at the New City Police Station.</p><p>Speaking at a press conference here on Saturday, SP Pradeep Gunti said, “Gram panchayat member Vaijinath Dattatreya (49) of Honnikeri village had gone for lunch at S K Dhaba near Chikkapet-Aliabad Ring Road on Friday. The two persons attacked and killed him with lethal weapons. The identity of the accused, who fled on a bike after the crime, was ascertained by the command centre with the help of local CCTV. We nabbed them along with two persons who assisted them”, he said.</p><p>Stating that Vaijinath had stood up for the victims in Pocso and the SC/ST atrocities cases in Honnikeri, he said that the real estate businessman had provided them necessary legal assistance. The arrested confessed that they murdered him to take revenge for giving assistance to the victims, he added. </p><p>He said that the investigation team led by DySPs Shivanagowda Patil and S N Sanadi, police inspector Vijayakumar Bavagi, PSIs Prabhakar Patil, Syed Patel, Abdul Samad, Hulleppa, constables Rahul, Prakash, Satish, Naveen, Gangadhar worked hard to resolve the case. </p><p>SP Pradeep Gunti said that a total of 189 cases are registered in various police stations of the district relating to gambling, matka, cricket betting, ganja, illegal storage of ration rice, and illegal sale of liquor in March. He also said that Rs 35 lakh cash has been seized and 431 persons arrested in this connection. Additional SP Chandrakant Poojary and other police officials were present at the press conference. </p>
