BJP Karnataka President B Y Vijayendra says Congress has been facing the brunt of people through ‘Jan Akrosh Yatra’

Belagavi: BJP State President B Y Vijayendra has said that the Congress has been facing people’s ire through the ‘Jan Akrosh Yatra’ organised by the BJP. 

"We have been exposing the misrule of Congress and the government has lost popularity in 20-months-time and has been facing anti-incumbency," he said.

Vijayendra told reporters here on Wednesday that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his cabinet colleagues were confined to the luxuries of their air-conditioned offices in Bengaluru and were under the impression that people were with them as the government had implemented guarantee schemes but the lives of people were affected due to the rise in prices of essential commodities and that they should know the realities.

"Through the 'Jan Akrosh Yatra', we have exposed the government. The government has been increasing prices on more than 50 essential commodities which has had a direct impact on the lives of the people, particularly in the rural areas. From contractors to officials, people were ending their lives due to the policies of the Congress government,'' he said.

Congress government in the state has lost popularity within 20 months which has forced them to stage a protest against the Centre on April 17 to cover up their failures, he stated. 

The first phase of 'Akrosh Yatra' was conducted in Mysuru, Mandya, Udupi, Mangaluru, Uttar Kannada and other districts in January and the second phase is commencing from Belagavi today, he said.

Siddaramaiah and his cabinet colleagues must visit the rural areas to know the sufferings of the people. The increase in prices of petrol, diesel, milk, and other essential products has been affecting the lives of the people directly. The price of milk alone has increased by Rs 9, petrol by Rs 3 and diesel by Rs 5. It has been having a direct bearing on the lives of people, Vijayendra said.

The ED has named Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi as accused No 1 and No 2 respectively in the National Herald case. They have to pay for their deeds, he said.
