BJP MPs mute spectators to Centre's injustice to Karnataka: CM Siddaramaiah

Haveri: Alleging unfair treatment to Karnataka in transfer of funds, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah accused the BJP MPs of not raising their voice in Delhi against the injustice being done to the state.

Speaking at an event to mark the government’s 1,000 days in office and distribution of title deeds to one lakh beneficiaries here on Saturday, Siddaramaiah said, “The state is number one in GSDP in the country and the GST collection in the state has soared. This is due to the increased spending power of the people driven by the guarantee schemes. However, we are not getting our rightful share.”

“Karnataka contributes Rs 4.5 lakh crore in taxes to the Centre. But in return, we received just Rs 60,000 crore from the Union government. For every Rs 100 of tax paid to the Centre, we are getting approximately Rs 13 to Rs 14.  The Centre had announced a grant of Rs 5,300 crore for Upper Bhadra in its budget three years ago, but we haven’t received a single
paisa. 

The Centre has not released Rs 11,495 crore under 15th Finance Commission. Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, Rs 15,000 crore is yet to be released,” he said and added that BJP MPs from the state Basavaraj Bommai, Pralhad Joshi and Jagadish Shettar are not even speaking in Delhi against the injustice being done to the state.

“The previous BJP government had not cleared pending dues worth Rs 75,000 crore to the contractors. The BJP government had called tenders for works worth Rs 2.75 lakh crore. Amidst all this crisis, our government has spent Rs 1.18 lakh crore to implement five guarantee schemes and fulfil 273 of the 590 promises made in our manifesto. We are making sincere efforts to fulfill the remaining promises,” the chief minister said.

“Our government has successfully completed 1,000 days in office during which we came up with welfare measures for the Dalits, backward classes, minorities and women. Only the Congress government walks the talk,” Siddaramaiah reiterated.

The chief minister said, “Today one lakh title deeds have been distributed to beneficiaries. This is the second such drive by the Revenue department. So far, 2.20 lakh beneficiaries have received title deeds. The remaining people will soon get the title deeds.”

Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, ministers Shivanand Patil, H K Patil, G Parameshwara, Satish Jarkiholi, K H Muniyappa, M B Patil K J George, legislators and the officials were present.
