<p>The BJP on Thursday decided to galvanise its organisational set-up in the state in preparation for the upcoming zilla panchayat and taluk panchayat elections. </p>.<p>BJP state president B Y Vijayendra announced this decision after the party’s core committee meeting held here. </p>.<p>At the meeting, leaders emphasised the need to mobilise party workers ahead of the local body elections.</p>.<p>The meeting was held in the presence of BJP general secretary incharge of the party affairs in the state Dr Radha Mohan Das Agrawal.</p>.<p>Dr Agarwal has been chairing a series of meetings over the past two days in the city with key party wings, including state ST morcha, women’s morcha and youth morcha. </p>.<p class="bodytext">He later told reporters that the meeting unanimously decided to continue to organise protests and public awareness rallies against the Siddaramaiah government to expose its corruption, highlight its anti-people policies and the neglect of farmers’ issues.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Expressing concerns over the rising cost of living under the Congress government, Vijayendra said that the statewide tour by leaders was aimed at strengthening the party’s grassroots presence and consolidate support ahead of the local body polls.</p>.<p class="bodytext">On the FIR registered against BJP MLC N Ravikumar over his reported remark against IAS officer Fouzia Tarannum, the state BJP chief said, “Ravikumar made some remarks during a protest and later expressed regret. Yet, the government went ahead and registered a case”. </p>.<p class="bodytext">He also declared that the BJP would not be intimidated by threats or blackmail.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly R Ashoka was conspicuous by his absence at the meeting. Party leaders later said Ashoka skipped the meeting as he was unwell following his extensive tours in rain-hit areas of the state. </p>
