<p>Hubballi: Charging that ‘One Nation One Election’ policy is a prelude to BJP’s plan to bring ‘One Nation No Election’ policy, All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary Mayura Jayakumar stated that BJP is trying to dilute the federal structure.</p><p>“Amit Shah insulted Dr B R Ambedkar. Indian democracy is under threat in the BJP rule. Fascist system of Modi and Shah should end. At this juncture, we should strengthen democracy and people’s voice,” he said adding that FIR against Rahul Gandhi was filed as an attempt to suppress people’s voice being raised by him.</p><p>Speaking at a preparatory meeting for the Congress’ ‘Gandhi Bharat’ convention to be held in Belagavi on December 27, he told Congress leaders in Hubballi on Friday to mobilise maximum number of people for the convention.</p><p>“We have to show that no force can suppress democracy. Belagavi convention should shake Modi and should stop him working against democracy,” he said.</p><p>Assembly elections and by-polls in Karnataka have given a good image to the Congress, and Belagavi convention should ensure that the entire nation is with the Congress. Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting will also be held in Belagavi on December 26. These programmes are organised to commemorate the centenary of Mahatma Gandhi presiding over the Congress convention in Belagavi in 1924. The convention should make people remember the sacrifices made by Gandhiji for the country’s freedom, Mayura said.</p><p><strong>‘25k people’</strong></p><p>District In-charge Minister Santosh Lad said 25,000 people from Dharwad district would attend the convention to be held in Belagavi.</p><p>Atrocities against SC/ST communities have been highest under the BJP regime. Modi government has also pressurised and threatened media, to prevent the exposure of its faults. Modi is running the government for his own publicity, Lad alleged.</p><p>BJP is always against the Constitution and the principles of Ambedkar, Basavanna and Mahatma Gandhi. Like Modi performed puja during the inauguration of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, puja by different communities should be allowed in all temples, he added.</p><p>Former minister A M Hindasgeri, Anilkumar Patil, Altaf Halwoor, Kusumavati Shivalli, and other Congress leaders were present.</p><p><strong>‘Who is responsible for pandemic-related deaths?’</strong></p><p>Countering BJP leaders blaming the Congress government and health minister for the maternal deaths in Ballari, District In-charge Minister Santosh Lad said, “Reports say that youth are getting heart attack after getting Covid vaccination. WHO report said medicines and vaccination given during the pandemic were of not good quality. Who will be responsible for that?”</p><p>“During Covid, 45 lakh people died, and are BJP leaders ready to blame<br>the PM for that? Certificates with Modi’s photograph were issued for those who got Covid vaccination. Will they issue such certificates in cases of death of people who had earlier taken the vaccination?,” Lad said adding that no discussion is being held about such issues.</p>
