<p>Davanagere: Defending the loan borrowings by the state, KPCC President and Deputy Chief Minister <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/d-k-shivakumar">D K Shivakumar</a> stated that the state government has borrowed loans with the aim of reducing the financial burden imposed on the people by the Centre through the price hike of essential commodities. "Hasn’t Prime Minister Narendra Modi taken loans despite not giving any welfare scheme," he questioned.</p><p><br>Speaking to reporters on Friday, he accused the Centre of failing to control the hike in prices of essential commodities. "To save people from inflation, the state government is giving money to people through guarantees. If Centre really cares about the people, it Centre should also come up with such a scheme. Let them provide financial assistance of Rs 10,000 per month to people’s bank accounts," he said.</p><p><br>Criticising the BJP, Shivakumar alleged that Centre was misleading the public with hollow claims. Referring to reports of 'akshate' (turmeric-laced rice grains that are considered sacred) being distributed during Ayodhya's Ram temple inauguration, he said, “We have videos of akshate distributed.
