<p>Union Minister of State of Science and Technology and Vice President of CSIR Dr Jitendra Singh formally launched BIRAC-BioNEST incubator facility at CSIR-CFTRI campus, in <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/mysuru">Mysuru</a>, on Friday.</p>.<p>This state-of-the art facility is designed to nurture entrepreneurial talent in food bioprocessing and biotechnology research, to support advanced research, scale-up and efficacy studies. It facilitates start-ups to convert innovative concepts into commercially viable technologies.</p>.<p>The centre has so far supported 26 start-ups including 12 physical incubatees, 11 hybrid incubatees and three graduated ventures. Collectively incubated companies have filed 12 patents and contributed to 5 research publications in noted journals.</p>.<p>The start-ups operate in cutting- edge domains such as CRISPR technology, precision fermentation, <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/probiotics">probiotics</a>, postbiotics and botanicals, according to CFTRI officials.</p>.Minister asks CFTRI to 'reach Gen Z', boost digital outreach of food innovation.<p>Minister also laid foundation stone for hostel complex established under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY), at the MG Halli campus of CSIR CFTRI to strengthen institute's skill development initiatives to support the needs of Indian food industry and also the Government's 'Skill India' initiatives in the area of food processing, officials said.</p>.<p>On Friday CSIR-CFTRI also entered into several MoUs.</p>.<p>They exchanged technology transfer agreement with DE3PBIO technologies for transfer of 'know how' for 18 technologies to process fortified, low Glycemic index, functional, high <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/protien">protein</a> foods, bakery/cereal innovations.</p>.<p>They entered MoU with Bigbasket to develop slow sugar release low GI atta. They exchanged technology transfer agreement with M B Hosmani and sons, Hubballi to develop ready to cook wheat and millet-based products including porridge and multigrain drink mixes in order to fortify these products with essential micronutrients for pregnant and lactating women and children.</p>.<p>They even entered MoU with Bloomrush foods for transfer of know-how for two technologies. </p>
