<p class="bodytext">Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday, launched various development projects, including the long-pending multi-village drinking water project and officially announced taluk status to Hanur on Wednesday.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The drinking water project, expected to solve the problems of two lakh people in 166 villages, was launched at Nagavalli in Chamarajanagar taluk.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Speaking on the occasion, the CM remembered late minister H S Mahadeva Prasad, who played a major role in initiating the project. The Kabini River water is released to Ummathuru, at a distance of 17 km, where it is purified. Later, the water is pumped and supplied through pipelines.</p>.<p class="CrossHead">Hanur taluk</p>.<p class="bodytext">During his visit to Hanur, later, he announced Hanur as the taluk headquarters. He launched various programmes and inaugurated buildings.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The CM distributed title deeds to 1,000 beneficiaries, gas connections worth Rs 58 lakh, sheep, and goat to beneficiaries at a cost of Rs 75 lakh, inaugurated a dormitory constructed by the Tourism department at Boodabalu village at a cost of Rs 1 crore.</p>.<p class="bodytext">He participated in the bhoomi puja of several road works worth crores of rupees. He inaugurated the KSRTC bus stand constructed at a cost of Rs 3 crore, Vadakkehalla bridge at a cost of Rs 3.5 crore and other works.</p>.<p class="CrossHead">MM Hill</p>.<div>The CM will halt at Male Mahadeshwara Hill overnight and will launch a Rangamandira constructed at a </div>.<div>cost of Rs 5 crore on Thursday.</div>
