CM launches software for crop insurance

Samrakshane’, a software application for online registration of farmers for crop insurance scheme was launched by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Bengaluru on Thursday.

The software provides for online registration of farmers from the state for Karnataka Raita Suraksha Pradhana Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) and Restructured Weather-based Crop Insurance Scheme (WBCIS).

This provides financial support to farmers suffering from crop loss or damage arising out of unforeseen events and disasters.

Siddaramaiah said the state government has earmarked Rs 675.38 crore as the state’s share for the project launched recently by the Centre. The software has been developed by National Informatics Centre.
