Siddaramaiah's 'will not quit battlefield' post creates a buzz

Amid the ongoing power tussle within the ruling Congress in Karnataka, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s assertion that he would “not quit the battlefield” has sparked intrigue.

In a series of social media posts, Siddaramaiah said, “I will not quit the battlefield. There have been many conspiracies to finish me politically and they are not just against me but all of you who trust me, love me, and continue to bless and support me. Therefore, I will fight until my last breath against this politics of conspiracy, hatred, and jealousy. I am not a coward who runs away from the battlefield.”

In his cryptic post, Siddaramaiah said he was being targeted for his stand on social justice and extended the argument to national politics, and said, “Rahul Gandhi began facing attacks after raising questions on caste census and reservation expansion.”

Describing his four-decade political journey as difficult, he said, “My political life has never been a bed of roses but a path of stones and thorns. Many of the attacks against me are also because of my caste. People, who are filled with resentment that a shepherd has become CM and is presenting budgets comparable to economic experts, are targeting me. They feel, if I am finished politically, their path will become easier.”

He said social justice was not just his ideology, but the path he chose. “Wealth, power and opportunities must be distributed equally,” said Siddarmaiah, making a case for the guarantee schemes and a legislation for allocating funds and reservation in government contracts up to Rs 1 crore for SCs and STs.

He said the BJP followed a “model of social injustice”.
