CM Siddaramaiah outlines 'guarantees' to transform govt schools, colleges

Bengaluru: The state government has laid out an eight-step path guaranteed to ensure quality education at state-run schools and
colleges.

The eight steps listed by the government include ensuring no shortage of teachers at schools, free transportation for students of Karnataka Public Schools and integrating digital education for students from class one, among others. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah invited suggestions from parents and stakeholders to improve the quality of education at state-run educational institutions in a post on ‘X’.

In his post on ‘X’, Siddaramaiah drew attention to the performance of students of government schools and PU colleges in the SSLC and second PU exams respectively.

“Admissions are now open to government schools and colleges across Karnataka. This academic year saw the state achieve a historic milestone in public education, reflected by the SSLC pass percentage (94.1%) and the performance in second PU exams (86.48%). These results reflect the growing strength of our government school system,” wrote the CM.

Teacher availability, improved infrastructure, choice of medium, free transportation, digital learning, training in arts and sports, monitoring of academic quality and skill-based training, are tge eight ‘guarantees’ at schools, he added.

The CM is confident of the sweeping changes benefitting more than 50 lakh children, given that these are set to come into effect from the 2026-27 academic year. “Our five-year vision is clear: Build the best government school system in the country. I invite parents and students to be part of this transformative journey,” said the CM.

Meanwhile, stakeholders in the education system have been called upon to share their ideas and suggestions. “Your suggestions will help us improve our services and address internal and external challenges,” the government said.
