<p>Bengaluru: The Department of Pre-University Education (DPUE) is facing allegations of favouring a company in tenders it floated for the supply of 1,200 all-in-one computers to 96 government colleges in the state.</p>.<p>According to the details available, tender conditions do not allow partnership firms and proprietorship firms to participate in the tender, though they meet all criteria to make the bids.</p>.<p>The department had invited tenders twice in the past allowing everyone eligible to participate.</p>.DPUE publishes details of PU colleges.<p class="bodytext">An eligible and interested Bengaluru-based partnership firm promoter said, “Tenders called twice were cancelled even before opening the technical bid and at that time, even individuals and other partnership, proprietorship firms were allowed to participate. But when they called tenders for the third time, it was only for companies.” </p>.<p class="bodytext">A few eligible individuals said they had applied and even participated in the pre-bid meeting and raised objections to not allowing them to participate.</p>.<p class="bodytext">“Despite objections, there is no response from the department,” said another interested individual who has already worked with various departments and supplied computers.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Alleging that the department is favouring a particular company, representative of another partnership firm said, “They have invited two tenders and the same conditions are in both tenders. Despite having the turnover stipulated by the department to participate in the tender, we are not allowed. We suspect the department officials are hand-in-glove with a particular company.”</p>.<p class="bodytext">When contacted, a senior official of the department said, “They are the registered companies in our department. If bidders have issues, they can give it in writing.”</p>
