In a cold-blooded murder that could be a plot for a pot-boiler, a woman who had disposed her paramour’s body after cutting the mortal remains into different parts, is now behind bars.

.
On March 18, Bannur police had recovered severed portions of a male body down the waist from a bush at Aravattigekoppal village, Bannur hobli, T Narispura taluk in the district. By quizzing villagers, the investigators learnt about a man missing since a day. When probed further, what came to the fore was the story of a widow and her paramour.

Ningaraju (27), son of Eraiah, was having an extra-marital affair with Sharada, a widow. Sharada’s husband Boregowda had died of a disease three years ago.

In her confessional statement, Sharada has stated that Ningaraju was forcing her for sexual favours. On that ill-fated day, around midnight, Ningaraju came to her house with the same demand.

Irked, Sharada hit Ningaraju on his head with an axe causing the latter’s death. Police said, though it was not a premeditated crime, Sharada was nursing a grudge towards Ningaraju over the issue. She had even told her neighbours that she will teach him a fitting lesson.

Sharada’s 13-year-old son, studying in ninth standard, who woke up in the morning was shocked to see the dead body. When enquired, Sharada initially claimed innocence, only to tell the truth later.

Police said, strangely, Sharada’s son didn’t utter a word to anybody and went to school. In the meantime, Sharada — with the help of a sickle — began to dissect the body. She cut the body into three parts, head, below neck and above waist and below waist.

Later, she packed the same into a gunny bag and waited till her son returned from the school in the evening.

When her son came home from school, Sharada disposed the body parts at different places by transporting the gunny bag on a bicycle. While she disposed the waist portion in a bush near Mahadeshwara Temple in the village, she threw the head and below portion amid heaps of molasses at Wilson Distilleries at Bommanahalli.

According to police, what came to Sharada’s help unknowingly was dissecting the body several hours after the person’s death. Had she cut the body soon after the murder, it would have oozed out blood, according to forensic science experts.

Moreover, Sharada’s neighbours too were out of station at that time, that helped her in transporting the body. Sharada is in judicial custody, and her son is sent to boy’s home. Ningaraju was married a year ago and his wife is about to deliver.

SP R Dileep has congratulated the team of police, led by T Narsipura circle inspector K S Sunderraj, comprising sub-inspectors R Santosh Kashyap and P S Anil Kumar among others.
