Davanagere bypoll: BJP conspiring to stop release of money for guarantee schemes: Shivakumar

Davanagere: KPCC President D K Shivakumar accused the BJP of hatching a conspiracy to stop the release of money for the beneficiaries of guarantees through Election Commission.

"In this way, they have attacked poor people and unemployed youths. So voters must give befitting reply to BJP in the bypolls to be held on April 9," he said.

Speaking to media persons at BIET guest house, here on Tuesday, he said, the BJP has written a letter to the Election Commission objecting to the release of money to the bank accounts of beneficiaries of guarantees. "With this, the true face of BJP has become public. They must know that this is a not new scheme which was announced now. So, there is no point in objecting to the release of money. I strongly condemn the stand of BJP in this regard."

He also claimed that the Congress government has implemented five guarantees in the state after coming to power. "I heard that the Prime Minister made a statement that the guarantee schemes have not been implemented in Karnataka and that the Congress has not kept its promise. I thought that the person who in such a key position would be aware of this. Those who criticized our programme have copies our schemes in other states," he taunted.

Slamming BJP, he said this is the evidence for BJP's anti-women and anti-youth stand. This is regular scheme and not meant for this bypolls. The state government has spent more than Rs 1.25 lakh crore on guarantees so far. "We have been providing money for this scheme under the law. This move and thinking of the BJP is condemnable. The BJP has come forward to stop the scheme implemented to protect the poor who are suffering due to hike in prices of essential commodities," he said.

He said, "I have discussed with the officials and ensure that the money of the previous month had been released and this month's installment will be released after the elections. He asked voters not to worry about these schemes and they won't be stopped. We are committed to our promise. Those who are creating fear among you will not win this election, their government will not come in the coming days," he said.
