<p>Melkote, Mandya district: With the popular Vairamudi Brahmotsava of Lord Cheluvanarayanaswamy being celebrated on Monday (April 7), lakhs of devotees from across the state and neighbouring states are visiting the pilgrim centre Melkote in Mandya district from Sunday. The temple town Melkote has wore a festive look with grand illumination as part of the jatra mahotsava.</p><p>The annual jatra mahotsava was launched on April 2 and will conclude on April 14. The district administration has made all arrangements for the festival.</p><p>The historical Vairamudi Utsava will be held on Monday night, with the presiding deity Cheluvanarayanaswamy adorned with the diamond and precious gems studded crown and taken on a procession on the main streets of the town, along with the procession idols of Bhoodevi and Sridevi.</p><p>The box containing the diamond-studded crown and other ornaments will be taken out of the district treasury, in the presence of the Deputy Commissioner. Special puja rituals would be conducted and brought to Melkote via Srirangapatna, Pandavapura, Mahadeswapura, Bellale and Manikyanahalli. Devotees will perform pujas to the ornaments at all the villages.</p><p>Later, it would be inspected by the DC at Melkote temple in the presence of temple sthaniks, priests and officials and handover it to the temple administration. The crown and ornaments would be then adorned to the procession idols and Brahmotsava conducted. The Vairmudi Utsava will conclude on the wee hours of Tuesday.</p>
