Educate parents on facilities at govt schools: Karnataka education department’s reminder to teachers

As the current academic year will close in a few weeks and next academic year will begin from June, the Department of School Education and Literacy has issued a reminder for government school teachers to concentrate on admissions and to track school children.

In the reminder, the department has asked the teachers to keep track of the children who are absent to schools
continuously.

“It has been observed that several children are absent to schools and PU colleges due to migration in the middle of the academic year. To identify such children, the schools must begin Admission Awareness Campaigns,” the reminder states.

Admission awareness campaigns

To attract more students to government schools, the department started the Admission Awareness Campaign from November 2025 and it will be on till June 2026. It is the first-of-its-kind campaign from the government side to compete with private ones.

“During the campaign, the teachers have to educate parents and children about the facilities provided at the government schools, including English medium, free uniform, bag, books, shoes, food, milk and boiled eggs,” the notification
stated.

Out-of-school kids

“From February 2026 to March 2026, the teachers should visit the highly populated areas to identify the children aged between 6 years and 18 years and track their school and college admissions, number of days they have attended classes and out-of-school-children if any,” teachers
said.
