<p>The state government has proposed relaxing the upper age limit for ex-servicemen by three years for gazetted probationer recruitment.<br /><br />The Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR) has proposed the following amendment to Rule 5 of the Karnataka Recruitment of Gazetted Probationers (Appointment by Competitive Examinations) Rules, 1997: “...the upper age limit shall be relaxed in the case of a candidate who is an ex-serviceman by three years plus the number of years of service rendered by him in the Armed Forces of the Union.”<br /><br />While the upper age limit is 35 years, the rules already provide for relaxation of up to five years for candidates belonging to SC/ST/Category-1 of OBC (it is three years for other OBC categories).<br /><br />Relaxation by 10 years is provided for widows or physically-handicapped.
