<p>Hassan: Forest Department officials seized 30 tonnes of Acacia catechu (black clutch) logs, worth about Rs 27 lakh on Friday. The wood was stored in a godown in the industrial area of Holenarsipur town in <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/hassan">Hassan</a>. </p><p>Range Forest Officer Dilip said, "We conducted a raid on the basis of the information provided by the people of the layout and seized the wooden logs of Acacia catechu trees that had been stored illegally. The wooden logs have been seized and an FIR would be registered, he said.</p><p>According to a retired senior officer of the Forest Department, Acacia catechu trees are expensive like sandalwood and redsanders. </p><p>The articles made from this tree are worth lakhs of rupees, he said.</p>
