Girl raped in Chikmagalur

An eight-year-old girl has been allegedly raped by Mahesh Kumar, 45, a daily wage worker at a travellers’ bungalow, here on Saturday.

This is the second such incident in the city, in a span of just a week.

It is said that the accused Kumar lured the victim — daughter of his colleague — with chocolates and dolls and took her to the travellers’ bungalow, where, he allegedly, raped her.

The girl came home crying in pain and informed her mother and uncle, who thrashed Kumar and handed him over to the city police.

The victim is being treated at the district hospital.
