<p>Giving away prizes to winners of various marshy land sports events at the valedictory programme of state level marshy land sports competition held at Kaggodlu on Sunday, Bopaiah said that state government has already provided Rs 25 lakh for Hockey Utsav and there are plans to provide monetary help to Kaggodlu marshy land sports event too.<br /><br />“This event was popular in and around Kaggodlu area. But now, due to the advent of the media, the popularity of this event has spread beyond the boundaries of this district. <br /><br />The event was is being held for the consecutive year. Amidst drizzles, participants took part in the sports events with great zeal and enthusiasm. Volley ball for men, tug-of-war (for men and women), running race and various other events were held in marshy land. <br />Participants came from various parts of the state and exhibited their team spirit and sportsmanship. <br /><br />The event was held at the field of D C D Bopaiah and was inaugurated by Zilla Panchayat member Allaranda Beena Bollamma on Saturday. <br /><br />In her inaugural address Beena Bollamma said that sports events are very necessary to bring in harmony in the society. <br /><br />Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer N Krishnappa was the chief guest of the programme and Madikeri Taluk Panchayat President Hosamane Kavitha Prabhakar presided.<br /><br /></p>
