Grand procession marks Kanakadasa Jayanthi

A grand procession was taken out to mark the 522nd birth anniversary of Kanaka Dasa in Chikkaballapur on Wednesday.

Deputy Commissioner N Manjula who inaugurated the birth anniversary celebrations said that government was celebrating the anniversary in a grand way. Members of various cultural associations and organisations along with people should participate in the celebrations to make it a  success, she added.

Procession

The procession, which started from Kanaka Dasa Bhajane Mandira in Yelepet in the city was jointly organised by district administration, Karnataka Pradesh Kurubara Sangha, Kanaka Dasa Bhajane Mandira and Kanaka Mahila Mandali.

 A well decorated portrait of Kanaka Dasa was also taken out on procession. Many Kuruba community leaders who had come from various parts of the district also took part in the procession.

Folk and cultural troupes

One of the interesting aspect of the procession was the participation of members of various folk and cultural troupes.

The troupes presented Goravana Kunita, Kolata, Tamate, Somana Kunita, Dollu Kunita, Veeragase, Keelu Kudure, Garudi Gombe and others.

Tahsildar Poornima, Additional Deputy Commissioner G S Nayak and others took part in the procession.
