H D Kumaraswamy issues gag orders on poll truck with BJP

Bengaluru: Union Minister for Steel and Heavy Industries H D Kumarswamy on Monday instructed leaders and members of JD(S) not to discuss the party’s alliance with the BJP in public.

Participating in a party meeting attended by leaders from the Greater Bengaluru area, Kumaraswamy, who is also the president of the Karnataka unit of the JD(S), said, “Nobody should speak about the alliance. The party’s leadership will discuss the issue, and decide on it. You should concentrate on strengthening the party, and bringing NDA to power in Bengaluru city.”

The Union Minister spoke to leaders from all the 28 Assembly constituencies across Bengaluru, and the newly appointed office bearers of the party’s Greater Bengaluru unit. Exhorting leaders and workers to strengthen the party at the ward and booth level, Kumaraswamy said, “People in Bengaluru are tired of the Congress government. They will naturally opt for BJP and JD(S). So, everyone should work to bring the NDA to power.”

‘Cong legislators spied upon’

Kumaraswamy claimied that the government was tapping phones and alleged that Congress legislators were being spied upon reports DHNS from Mysuru.

Speaking to reporters in Mysuru on Monday Kumaraswamy alleged that the degree of surveillance of members within the government had not been seen hitherto. “Phone tapping existed in every government and it continues even today. But some people like to pretend they are above such things despite indulging in it. You should ask the current government as to the extent it has risen to of late” the Union Minister said.
