<p>Various public and private sector industries in the district have agreed to do their mite under the corporate social responsibility (CSR).<br /><br /></p>.<p>In a recent meeting with Deputy Commissioner C Shikha, representatives of various industries under the purview of Mysore Industries Association (MIA) and Nanjangud Industries Association (NIA) agreed to aid government schools and hospitals, anganwadis and a Gram Panchayat.<br /><br />The representatives of Bharteeya Reserve Bank Note Mudranalaya Limited (BRBNML), having its note printing unit at Metagalli, agreed to sponsor Rs 10 lakh worth medical equipment and water treatment plant at taluk general hospitals.<br /><br />AT&S offered to develop selected 10 anganwadi centres by creating a children-friendly environment along with toys, mosquito nets, murals and stationery followed by toilet facilities.<br /><br />ITC decided to be a partner in the comprehensive development of B Matagere Gram Panchayat in Hunsur taluk, already selected under Sansad Adarsh Grama Yojane (MP’s Model Village Scheme). Mysore Paints and Varnish Limited, a public sector company, decided to take up development works in the same GP.<br /><br />Bannari Amman Sugar Factory committed itself to donate three biogas units (produced from kitchen waste), while South India Paper Mills (SIPM) will set up waste processing units at three villages along with underground drainage facility. Nestle India will build toilets in schools.<br /><br />L&T will provide table and desks for Girijana Ashrama Schools, while Jubilant Generic Limited at Nanjangud will provide two washing machines and an AC for the operation theatre at town general hospital.<br /><br />Bacardy Martin, Rane Madras and UB Beverages will be setting up four water purification units each and two each napkin vending machines at girls hostels under the Social Welfare and Backward Class departments.<br /><br />SKF Technologies at Kadakola will sponsor two water purification units of 50 litres capacity each for the general hospital (at Nanjangud).<br /><br />Earlier, in her appeal to the industrialists, Shikha had urged them to play a proactive role under CSR by strengthening the hands of the government in meeting the demands of the growing society.<br /><br />The DC instructed the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) officials to take up the maintenance works at Nanjangud, Kadakola and Tandavapura industrial areas.<br /><br />Following a complaint on imposition of heavy tax on industries, she asked the Zilla Panchayat deputy secretary to verify the issue.</p>
