It’s ‘Republic of Kalaburagi’ under Priyank, says Chalavadi

Bengaluru: Taking a swipe at IT/BT Minister Priyank Kharge, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Chalavadi Narayanaswamy on Saturday accused the former of turning Kalaburagi into ‘Republic of Kalaburagi’.

Narayanaswamy’s remarks were made against the backdrop of the controversy surrounding the suicide of a contractor in Kalaburagi, who, in his suicide note, alleged that Priyank’s associates were attempting to kill him.

“The system in Kalaburagi is completely different to what exists in other districts of the state. Even the police are following what the minister says. Priyank is having his own people do business there,” charged Narayanaswamy.

The LoP also called upon Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to drop Priyank from the Cabinet to ensure a fair and transparent probe into the contractor’s death, besides calling for the IT/BT minister’s arrest.

BJP general secretary P Rajeev said the saffron party would launch a stir against the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
