<p>Dr S Aiyappan, Director General and member secretary of the Indian Council for Agricultural Research inaugurated the country’s first-ever Jaggery Park. It has all the infrastructure to prepare jaggery sans chemicals with less human intervention. The installed capacity of the park is to manufacture 60-70 quintals of jaggery daily. The Park can crush about 2 tonne of sugarcane in one hour. The park can cater to the sugarcane growers in Mandya, Mysore and Chamarajanagar districts, official sources said. <br /><br />In his address, Aiyappan commended University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore and the State government for the innovative approach. “The processing unit is one among the best facility in the country. Last year, the country witnessed record 34 crore tonne sugarcane yield. The experts are analysing how efficiently the large yield can be utilised,” he said. <br /><br />He added that the country has erased its own record set in the food production in the year 2010-11, after independence. The Karnataka state has made a significant contribution for it. <br /> Minister for Transport and District In-charge R Ashoka said the research outcome in the labs should reach the door steps of the farmers. “The agricultural scientists should show the way for less input cost and more yield to ryots.” Vice-Chancellor of UAS, Bangalore Dr K Narayana Gowda, MLAs C S Puttaraju, Ashwath Narayana, ZP President Shivanna, Mysugar chairman Nagarajappa, MUDA Chairperson Vidya Nagendra, farmer leaders Kurubur Shanthakumar, Sunanda Jayaram were present.</p>
