Jailer tries to stop quarrel, attacked by inmates in Karnataka

Jamakhandi (Bagalkot dist): A jailer was attacked when he tried to stop a quarrel between inmates of the prison here on Sunday evening.

The jailer V D Kumbara was attacked by Zakeer Hussain Makandaara, Fayaz Makandaara, Ashok Naaykodi and Arfath Talikoti, serving sentences for smuggling rice earmarked for PDS. Kumbara sustained a fracture in his left hand and other injuries. He is undergoing treatment.
