Karnataka agriculture minister seeks Centre's cooperation to expand exports

Bengaluru: Agriculture Minister N Chaluvarayaswamy said on Sunday that the Union government’s cooperation was needed to expand exports and the availability of basic facilities in the agriculture sector. 

Speaking during the valedictory function of the International Trade Fair 2026 – Organics & Millets, the minister noted that the Union government’s assistance was needed for cold storage, transportation facilities, branding, exporting and so on.

“In 2022-23, Karnataka exported around 8,000 tonnes of millets and millet products worth Rs 36 crore and contributed to 40% of the overall millet exports in the country. The millets from Karnataka are being exported to countries like America, Australia, Canada, Qatar, UAE, Thailand and Singapore,” he said.
