Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce to hold meeting to discuss release of 'Thug Life'

Bengaluru: The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) will hold a meeting to discuss the release of Kamal Haasan-starrer Thug Life in Karnataka.

This comes after Raaj Kamal Films International, one of the producers of the movie approached the Karnataka High Court for the smooth release of the film in the state amidst controversy over the actor's "Kannada was born from Tamil" remark. Raaj Kamal Films International is owned by Kamal Haasan.

Directed by Mani Ratnam, Thug Life which was scheduled for release on June 5, faces a boycott in Karnataka by pro-Kannada groups after the actor refused to apologise over his remark.

"Exhibitors have decided to not showcase the film in their theatres in Karnataka. All political leaders of the state and the pro-Kannada organisations stand by it," M Narasimhalu, KFCC president, told DH.

The KFCC is holding a meeting tomorrow on June 3 (Tuesday) at 11.30 am at their office on Race Course Road.
