Karnataka govt will distribute title deeds to one lakh people at Haveri convention: Krishna Byre Gowda

Bengaluru: Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda on Tuesday said that one lakh people would be given title deeds in a convention in Haveri on February 14 to mark the Congress government's 1,000 days in office. 

Speaking to reporters during a press conference, Krishna Byre Gowda said: “Title deed is not just a paper. It’s a computerised document issued by E-Swattu. We will issue title deeds that cannot be duplicated.”

Earlier, Gowda, Sugar Minister Shivanand Patil and MLA Srinivas Mane discussed the upcoming convention with beneficiaries.

“Our government is giving a 100% land guarantee. Alongside title deeds, we are also getting it registered at the sub-registrar’s office. We are giving title deeds to those living in villages without documents. Lands sanctioned under ‘Darqast’ and ‘Bager Hukum’ do not have title deeds. We have given hope to those who were in a quandary. This is an achievement of our government,” said the Revenue Minister.  

The government had a very clear idea on land ownership, said Krishna Byre Gowda, adding that 49 lakh properties in the state were registered in the name of deceased individuals. 

“Officers are working towards getting those lands registered under the names of the concerned individuals. Land ownership had become synonymous with land disputes. People had to travel to courts, offices etc. Now, the government itself is distributing title deeds,” said Krishna Byre Gowda.
