Karnataka High Court allows admission of SSLC pass outs to paramedical courses

Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court has passed an interim order permitting the member institutions of Karnataka State Para Medical Institutions Managements Association to admit students who have passed SSLC examination to various para medical courses for the year 2026-27.

The association had submitted a representation to the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professionals (NCAHP) on February 11, 2026, with a request to relax admission criteria for the year 2026-27. The association had also submitted a representation to the state government on March 23, 2026, with a request for granting approval for admission, based on SSLC qualification, which was the criteria followed previously, to courses which have been omitted by the NCAHP Act.

“Having heard the counsels appearing for the parties, the members of the Institutions of the petitioner-Association are eligible to admit the students based on the eligibility criteria of passed in SSLC to various diploma courses including the diploma courses, namely Diploma in Medical Laboratory, Technology, Diploma in Optometry Technology, Diploma in Imaging Technology and Diploma in Health Inspector, which have been omitted by the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professionals (NCAHP) Act and the Curricula approved under the said Act, for the academic year 2026-27, pending consideration of the representation by the petitioner Association to the Government of Karnataka, and the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP), Justice ES Indiresh said in the interim order.
