Karnataka SSLC: 'All students who failed exam-1 must register for exam-2'

Bengaluru: The Department of School Education and Literacy has made it mandatory for all students who have failed in SSLC examination-1 to register for examination-2.

According to a statement released by School Education and Literacy Minister Madhu Bangarappa, the deputy directors of the department in all districts have been instructed to ensure that all SSLC students who failed in the examination-1 are registered for examination-2.

Madhu stated that to encourage students to take up examination-2, the department had announced fee waiver for the second examination. “There will be no examination fee for failed students to appear for the second examination. This is to reduce the financial burden on parents and to encourage students to appear for second examination,” the minister stated.

Meanwhile, those who wish to improve their score can also appear for the second examination. “No student should be deprived of education because of the lack of information and no student should discontinue education just because they failed in examination-1,” Madhu stated.

In the statement, the minister said that in the SSLC examination-1, a total of 45,415 students had failed. Of these, 20,691 students failed in one subject, 10,509 - two subjects, 6,103 - three subjects, 3,799 - four subjects, 2,552 - five subjects and 1,716 in all subjects.
