<p>Hubballi: A two-and-half-year-old boy was crushed to death and four others sustained injuries after a trainee driver driving a government bus rammed into them at the Haveri bus stand early Wednesday morning.</p><p>The deceased has been identified as Hazrat Ali Ismail Raichur, a resident of Savanur. Though the boy was rushed to Karnataka Medical College and Research Institute, he died on the way.</p>.Speeding car jumps median, crashes into KSRTC bus on Bengaluru-Tumakuru highway; 5 killed.<p>According to Haveri traffic police, the incident took place around 7 am on Wednesday when Manjunath R, the driver of the bus, was trying to park it on the platform. Sources said that the trainee driver might have confused the accelerator for the brakes and pressed the pedal hard, resulting in the accident. The bus was scheduled to travel from Haveri to Lakshmeshwar.</p><p>The injured -- Vasudev Gurunathappa Utaleker (44) from Bankapur, his daughter Harsha Utaleker (6), wife Kavyanjali Utaleker (39), and Arbaz Khan Saudagar (13) from Savanur-- were treated at Haveri District Hospital and later discharged.</p><p>Speaking to DH, NWKRTC Managing Director Priyanga M said it was an unfortunate incident that resulted in the death of a boy. “It was a night-service bus and was being driven to the platform for its first trip when the incident took place.”</p><p>Manjunath was a trainee driver who had been inducted into the service eight months ago. A departmental inquiry will be initiated against him.</p><p>A police case has been registered at Haveri Traffic Police Station under Sections 281 and 125(A) of the BNS, 2023.</p>
