Khandre brokers peace between Jarkiholis & Hebbalkar

The Congress leadership on Friday brokered a compromise between the warring parties Jarkiholi brothers - Minister Ramesh and MLA Satish - and Mahila Congress state president and Belagavi Rural MLA Laxmi Hebbalkar by electing the consensual candidates to the top posts of the Belagavi Taluk Primary Rural Development (BTPRD) Bank.

Hebbalkar and Jarkiholi brothers were involved in the battle of one-upmanship over the control of the bank.

KPCC working president Ishwar Khandre, at the behest of the top brass, managed to broker a peace between the groups ahead of the elections on Friday. Mahadev Patil, an octogenarian, and Bapusaheb Jamadar, both identified with Hebbalkar group were elected president and vice president unanimously. Five members from the Jarkiholi camp did not file their nominations following the instructions by the party leadership.
