<p> <br />Ashwani Kumar Datt, Chairman and Managing Director, BEL, gave the Union minister a detailed presentation on BEL’s business, core strengths, infrastructure, workforce, Research &Development set-up, vast product range, both defence and civilian, emerging business areas — like homeland security and nuclear instrumentation — and future growth plans. <br /><br />Ashwani Kumar Datt informed Kharge that BEL was implementing all Government guidelines on providing employment to women, the visually handicapped and hearing impaired, and SC/ST.<br /><br />Kharge also held discussions with BEL’s negotiating trade unions, Technical Cadre Associations and SC/ST Associations. He was taken around the factory and given a glimpse of BEL’s state-of-the-art defence and civilian products. <br /><br />The minister, who was accompanied by Prof B K Chandrashekhar, former Karnataka Minister, expressed his happiness over Bharat Electronics Ltd’s achievements and wished the company all the best in its endeavors to empower the armed forces.</p>
