This property will be reserved for the city bus services. There is a proposal to set up a multi-storey complex like in Bangalore and other places. There will be parking in the underground, above a bus stand and above that shopping complex. However, a decision has still not been taken whether to go in for public-private partnership or not. Ernst and Young has been entrusted with the task of the viability of the project. Only after the report is submitted the next course of action will be taken.”<br /><br />“With the transfer of two acres of land to a private party the basic agreement has not been violated. In the total land that the government has give, 40 per cent might be given to the private players (for business) is what the initial agreement states. <br /><br />Here the private companies will invest Rs 35 crore and provide a parking lot, shopping complex and other facilities. The rumour that bar and restaurant will come up is totally false. The private company will pay a yearly rent of Rs 10 lakh apart from a deposit of Rs 1.5 crore. Above all this the property will still be in the name of the government. After 33 years, a property worth Rs 35 crore will come back to the government. This agreement has been made on build own and transfer model. After calling for tenders thrice, the won which had proposed the highest bid was given the contract,” he clarified.<br /><br />A few of the issues like people having to walk long distances to reach the bus stand, the shops selling at higher prices were brought to the notice of the officials. The matter would be brought up before the administration board and proper action will be taken, assured the officials. KSRTC labour welfare officer Vijaykumar Rai was also present.</p>
