Leaders demand action against Zameer Ahmed over anti-party activity

Davangere: KPCC General Secretary D Basavaraj and former mayor Chaman Sab have written to KPCC President D K Shivakumar, former chief minister Siddaramaiah, top Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, K C Venugopal and Randeep Singh Surjewala seeking disciplinary action against senior Congress leader B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan.

In the letter, they stated that it is now well known that former minister Zameer Ahmed Khan had carried out anti-party activities against the official Congress candidate Samarth Shamanur in the recently concluded Davangere South Assembly constituency by-election.

"In an audio clip that has gone viral on social media, Zameer is heard speaking to his supporters and allegedly instructing them that 'Muslim votes should not go to the Congress candidate.' Moreover, he has incited the minority community to vote for another party candidate of the cooker symbol against the official nominee of Congress," the letter said.

"Being a senior party leader, conspiring to defeat the official candidate of the party during the by-election has caused great disappointment and anger among the grassroots workers. This is a betrayal of the party's discipline and ideology. Hence, we hereby request the KPCC President to take this matter seriously, verify the authenticity of the audio conversation and immediately take appropriate legal and disciplinary action through the Disciplinary Committee against B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan," they demanded.
