<p>Mangaluru: A 43-year-old resident of Madanthyar in Beltangady taluk has reportedly been duped of Rs 3.2 lakh by a woman he came in contact with through Facebook.</p><p>According to the police, Rajesh K developed a friendship with a woman named Sandhya Pavithra Nagaraj on the social media platform in 2024. The two stayed in touch over the phone, during which the woman claimed that she had helped several people who were in distress or had fallen victim to fraud.</p><p>At one point, Rajesh confided in her about a case registered against him at the police station and sought her assistance. The accused allegedly promised to help him resolve the case and, under the pretext of various expenses, collected Rs 3,20,000 from him in multiple installments between February and May 2025, said the police. </p>.Karnataka: Facial recognition attendance system in schools from this year .<p>When the case showed no signs of progress, Rajesh began to question her, but she reportedly demanded even more money. Suspecting foul play, Rajesh made further inquiries and realised he had been deceived. Based on his complaint, a case has been registered at Punjalkatte Police Station under Sections 318(4) and 351(2) of BNS. </p>
